Strengthen Your Family Through Biblical Homeschooling

How to Prepare for Homeschool Conventions: Choosing the Best Approach to Homeschooling

How to Prepare

With the homeschool convention season right around the corner, you might be wondering what to expect.  In my experience, homeschool moms go to conferences and quickly become overwhelmed. They’re not sure what to buy or what to use with their kids.

Or, if you’re a seasoned homeschooler, you get stuck in a rut, burned out of their curriculum. Moms often ask me “Are my kids really learning after several years of the same curricula?”

I want to help you prepare for your conference in the best way possible, so you use your time wisely.

Both newbies & experienced homeschoolers can benefit from examining their approach to Christian homeschooling.  New homeschoolers are looking to figure out what to do next year.

Should you follow exactly what your child was doing in public or school? Or, your best friend who homeschools?

Experienced moms often feel like you’re stuck in a rut, doing the exact same thing year after year after year.  You wonder if you’re really doing what God wants you to do?

Over the next several weeks, I’d like to help you match your family’s goals in homeschooling with the right approach.  Did you know there are seven different approaches to homeschooling?

Another reason for this series is the Christian perspective it offers.  Most books & workshops that discuss the different approaches to homeschooling have a general nature. With this series, I want to give you a Biblical worldview, a Christian perspective of homeschooling to help you choose the best approach for your family.

In this series, we will start with a general overview & strategy that helps you match your goals with the right approach for your family.  Then we will discuss each of the different approaches to Christian homeschooling: traditional, classical Charlotte Mason and living books, unit studies,  principle or Biblical, un-schooling or resource-rich environment approach and finally a Christian leadership approach. That gives you an idea of where we’re headed.

So I hope you’re along for the ride.

By learning more about each approach, you can match your family to the approach that works best for your goals.  And, you’ll make wiser decisions at the Teach Them Diligently conference you attend.

In closing, I encourage you to pray, pray and pray some more.  God will give you wisdom in each of your homeschooling decisions.  He was always there when I was homeschooling, even when I wasn’t sure what I was doing.

Over the course of the next week, start praying for each of your kids and what God wants for them in your homeschool next year. It’s never too early to pray for them.
