Reading the Alphabet Bundle Package Giveaway

Reading the Alphabet button-new250

My son knew his letters {upper and lower case} at the age of two. This was not something I formally sat down and taught him. He learned along the way as we integrated letters into our day, and I’m sure he learned from his older brother. The summer before he turned three, I began formally teaching him his letters sounds. He wanted to “do school” like big brother, so there was no stopping this mama! We spent a week on each letter {in random order}, doing fun units and learning games. Before we had finished every letter, I realized he knew his letters AND sounds. This boy was motivated to learn more! Now, what should I do? He was only three years old, for goodness sake! I didn’t feel it was age or developmentally appropriate to place him in a Kindergarten curriculum. I knew it would be paced too quickly for him.

So, God dropped Reading the Alphabet in my lap; quite literally. I spent a few weeks contemplating and praying about what a child in his literacy development needed. I started developing the program and trying it out on him. It was a hit!

What is Reading the Alphabet?

Reading the Alphabet is a Pre-K reading curriculum for after the ABC’s. Each week, there is a new emergent reader that reinforces and applies one letter sound and one new sight word a week. Not only is there a new letter and a new sight word each week, there are also rhyming, syllable identification, word family work, handwriting, math, coloring, cutting, and gluing activities. Altogether, the program is 31 weeks long!

As I designed and implemented each lesson, I blogged about it and posted the printables for free. To read more about Reading the Alphabet and to see each post, click HERE.
