This month, we’ll be looking more closely at the account of Jesus’ birth in scripture, and we’ll be looking for discipleship opportunities (and growth opportunities therein.) This week, we’re getting some historical context surrounding Jesus’ birth as we stand in awe at how “the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…”
With the hectic holiday season upon us, now is a perfect time to focus on the importance of taking care of ourselves, so we are fit to take care of those we love the most. Leslie is joined by Genevieve Voreis this week as Genevieve shares her incredible story and shares what God taught her through health trials, the loss of a son, and the journey that came from those things.
Today Vere interviews Andrea Bridgman, Sr. Project Manager at Evangelical Christian Credit Union. Andrea and her husband co-homeschool their 3 boys. She’s a nurturing mom with purpose! Although her boys are young, she’s raising Godly men who are responsible, ethical, empowered by Christ and who don’t stand down to the pressures of this world. She was our Project Manager on Start Young. Her use of Start Young is primarily about teaching stewardship, honoring God, giving, and helping her children learn about accountablility. She shares some great real-life examples and Moms will really relate to her, and come away with encouragement to honor what God has called them to do.

The next few months will be filled with excitement for all as there are ample things to celebrate, people to visit with, gifts to give, and love to share. As we prepare to enter this often busy season, let’s all take a few minutes to think of ways we can help our children learn the value of focusing on others during this time of year, rather then on themselves.
We’ve already discussed the academic lessons we all learn as we’re homeschooling our children, but

Opening our home is an amazing way to enrich our families and our homeschools and to serve others– even when the idea of doing so may seem completely overwhelming with everything that’s going on. A command central approach to organizing your classes can give you a ton of peace of mind and keep you on track– as well as help you to remember how much fun it is to homeschool! 🙂
As parents, we all want to give our children a much better foundation than we had ourselves. That’s one of the reasons we homeschool them, for we know that by tailoring their education and taking every opportunity afforded to us to point them to Jesus, we are giving them a huge head start to be prepared for whatever God has in store for the next phase of their life. This week, we’re chatting with Linda Carlson about some great ideas and opportunities that are available for us to teach our children sound financial principles that will reap benefits in their lives for years to come. (And you may even learn some yourself!) 🙂
I told you last week that when David and I did my time inventory, he got a much clearer view of what I do each day—and a much greater appreciation for homeschooling. He was already a spectacular homeschool dad, but he has learned quite a bit himself through the years, and I talked him into sharing his heart with your today. Feel free to grab your husband and join us for this week’s discussion.
One of the questions that so many people ask me is “how can I possibly get everything done in a day?” When you take a birds-eye view of educating your children while still keeping them fed, clean, and nurtured– and STILL managing your home and being a wife, it can get overwhelming. This week, let’s look at time and try to find ways to use it better, so we can always have it available for what is truly important in our day.
‘Tis the season to head into homeschool or back to homeschool, and there are some pretty easy ways to make sure that you have the best school year ever. Let’s discuss 3 of those ways to set your heart and your course for this new school year.
Have you noticed how often we jump to conclusions in this day and age? We read a headline and fill in the blanks with whatever we THINK goes there without taking the time to dig deeper to find out what really happened and why. In parenting, we can often do the same thing if we’re not careful. This week, let’s chat about the importance of not jumping to conclusions and how taking the time to have even difficult conversations with our children can prove to be an incredible discipleship time.
There are so many things to learn about homeschooling, parenting, and managing your household. This week, I’ve asked a couple of TTD favorites, Sonya Shafer and Jessica Hager, to answer some questions about homeschooling multiple ages at once.
