Art Workshops

Lessons in Conte: White Stallion

Join Sharon Hofer as she takes you step by step through the process of drawing this beautiful white stallion with Conte’ Crayon on black paper. Everyone wants to be able to draw a horse and this is a horse that you can draw if you slow down and carefully do the lessons. You will first draw this majestic horse head, and then add levels of color using Conte’ crayons. You will learn to shade according to the correct value. After working through this project you will be able to incorporate what you have learned using Conte’ crayons into other drawings of animals of your choice. This is for ages 13-18.

This class will be Friday 5/2 from 4:00pm-6:10pm

Lessons in NuPastels: The Baby Panda

Join in the official launch of this brand-new NuPastel project – only at TTD. This special project is designed specifically for students to introduce pastels in one fun-filled fine art session.  This is for ages 8-18

This class will be Saturday 5/3 from 1:30pm-2:30pm

Lessons in Charcoal: Dawdling Duck

Ducks might not seem like they dawdle because when you approach them they will want to take flight. However, ducks that are raised on a farm are often seen dawdling along in the summer breeze. The sound of their voice can always be heard and you know just where the ducks are dawdling. Today we are going to learn how to draw a simple duck and make it look like it is walking off the page. Using willow charcoal, we will gently smear the shadows into it’s wings and body and as a result the duck will look real! Let’s have fun drawing this Dawdling Duck! This is for ages 8-18

This class will be Thursday 5/2 from 4:20pm-5:20pm

Lessons in Ink: The Cardinal

Over the years Sharon has helped many of her students master the skills of fine art drawing in ink with Tombow pens. You can learn the same simple and fun skills with Sharon as you create this beautiful Cardinal. In this project you will learn how to carefully draw in the design, how to paint in the darkest values with the Tombow pen, and then use water to bring in the middle values. When you are finished this painting you will have begun your journey to becoming a graphic artist. This is for ages 10-18

This class will be Friday 5/3 from 9:00am-10:00am
