Pray when Hanging by a Thread

This actually has a good point too it, so don’t laugh to hard. I was cutting the grass yesterday and while I was in my own little world, I nearly destroyed another. As I was riding along, a worm on a very small thread was hanging in front of me. I stopped rather suddenly within inches of the precariously hanging worm and just watched it. Slowly it rotated around a bit and once even dropped down a bit. Slowly I began to think of how this worm is like us Dads at times.

Hanging In There

How Are You Hanging, Dad?

You see, we are husbands of homeschooling mom’s. There are times at my house when I am hanging on very tight small threads. The threads of patience, understanding, money and time. Just like that worm we sometimes are hanging onto a small hope of understanding our kids or wife. I know that there have been many instances where I have been hanging on the very, very small thread of patience with my family. Finances are one of the most common tight threads we as husbands of homeschooling mom’s can hang from. Single incomes can tend to lead to the last thread I mentioned, time. Time is the one thread that can never break! If you let the thread of time break, the other threads will snap on you very shortly. Once we let time get away from us, our wife and kids, we loose patience which leads to understanding.

But the other part about that worm was when he dropped down a bit. We should be dropping a bit also while holding on to the threads in our life, dropping to our knees and praying! When you are getting frustrated with the kids, pray. When you are not understanding the wife and can’t figure her out, pray. When the money is running tight and you wonder if you can make it, pray.

Philippians 4:6-9 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)
6 Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
8 Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable—if there is any moral excellence and if there is any praise—dwell on these things.
9 Do what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

Those verses from Paul are just as applicable today as they were then. Seek everything out in prayer and petition with thanksgiving and let your request be made known to the one and almighty God of the universe! Pray with all you have and don’t give up. You are the husband of a homeschooling mom and there is a lot hanging on your prayers!

Till next time…
