The Christian Parent-Teacher as Office-bearer

In this address, this critical topic will be introduced by stressing the importance of a teacher-valued, Christ-centered, and Reformation-grounded approach to teaching. Using the biblical paradigm of parents teaching and training the children God has loaned to them through bearing Christ’s prophetic, priestly, and kingly office as teachers, this address will focus on the following: As prophets, we teach our children (1) with a biblical framework; (2) with passion; (3) by example; (4) as students of the Word; and (5) for holistic ministry. As priests, we teach our children (1) sacrificially; (2) by sharing our lives; and (3) by interceding for them. As kings (and queens), we teach our children (1) by shepherding them; (2) by empowering them; (3) by defending them; and (4) by disciplining them. The address concludes by underscoring the beauty of Christ’s threefold office for us as parent-teachers.

How to Conduct Effective Family Worship

According to Scripture, God should be served in special acts of worship in families today in the following three ways: daily instruction in the
Word of God, daily prayer to the throne of God, and daily singing of the praise of God. This address is packed full with practical instruction on
how to carry out these acts of worship in a way that brings God glory and does the minds and souls of your children good.

How Can We Plant Godly Convictions in Our Children?

Using Proverbs 23 as a paradigm, this address provides parents with practical instructions on how to plant six major life-shaping convictions in
your children with the assistance of the Holy Spirit. When taken together, these convictions will provide a framework for genuine Christian living
in your children that will stand them in good stead for this life and for the better life to come.
