Andrea Elston

Andrea Elston was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. She graduated from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington with her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and spent 20 years teaching at a private Christian school in the Seattle area. In 2019, she and her husband moved to Prescott, Arizona where they combined their backgrounds and passion for literature and education to found Shine-A-Light Press. With experience in teaching kindergarten through fifth grade, Andrea has a wide range of expertise in multiple areas, but her main focus has been and will remain equipping the next generation to live a life for Christ.

Beyond Book Reports: Integrating literature to enhance learning for all ages

This workshop will support home educators in using their favorite books to engage even the most reluctant learner by providing resources and methods to find the educational value and curricular application in just about any piece of literature. From Mr. Popper’s Penguins, to Pride and Prejudice, this session will shine a light on how to integrate both old classics and newly published material in unexpected ways and subject areas such as math, science, and even Bible.
