Each week, we are are going behind-the-scenes to chat with a Teach Them Diligently speaker or exhibitor to help you learn a little more about them. It’s fascinating to hear how their product or brand came to be, how God has led in their lives, and get little tidbits you may never hear otherwise. This week, we’re going behind-the-scenes with Kim Sorgius of Not Consumed.
Kim Sorgius, has been at Teach Them Diligently since the very first year. She came to TTD Spartanburg as an attendee the first year, then joined our team as the resident curriculum specialist for the 2013 season. Since then, she has become one of our most popular speakers. Her resources and sessions are always highly touted.
Kim started her blog, Not Consumed, to help her stay home and homeschool her four children after becoming a single mom. Having a background in education and curriculum, it was a perfect fit for helping other homeschoolers while providing for her family. Her mission is to help families trust God living #NotConsumed with the every day challenges of life including family life, faith and homeschooling. She has used the skills God gave her, along with her life experience, to create some of the best homeschool and discipleship resources available today.
What You May Not Know About Kim, in her own words..
I absolutely LOVE teaching and working with middle schoolers, especially 6th graders. They are spunky, full of life and are desperately trying to navigate the new waters of the teen life. One of the reasons I’ve taught this age every single week for nearly 15 years is because I know that my life would have been so very different if someone had come along side and mentored me at that age. I want these kids to have the hope that so many others at their age don’t have.
