How To Stay Connected And Keep Homeschooling When Dad Travels

I wrote about Homeschooling when Dad Travels. It was tips on how to stay connected to hubby while he is away.
Today I have tips on keeping the kids connected to dad.

Now, I have teenagers at home now. But 10 years ago, when The Principal first started traveling I had 4, 6, 11, and 12-year-olds at home.

Today I will encourage phone conversations or Skype/Facetime.
We didn’t have these options in the early days. We had dial-up internet.

Wallmap
We kept track on a wall map with push pins. Counts as geography. It was a great visual to see how far away dad was.

Cards
Leave a handmade card in Dad’s suitcase. Maybe a picture that they drew special for him.

Be Intentional
When Dad is home be intentional. Eat dinner together. Have him tuck them into bed or give them their bath one night.

Read the Bible virtually
Read a Psalm or other book everyday ‘together.’ So you are on the same page spiritually

Wake Ups
Keep track of how many ‘wake ups’ until dad gets home.

Phone Calls
Of course there is the phone call. Sometimes this isn’t a good thing, if littles don’t understand where dad is. Do this at your discretion.

Do you have a husband who travels? How do you keep kids connected?
