Strengthen Your Family Through Biblical Homeschooling

A Homeschool Bucket List… Really?!?

As my children are getting older and I’m getting a clearer view of just how short my time to shepherd their hearts really is, I’m seeing how big of a deal my “homeschool bucket list” has been. (Well, I never actually considered what I was doing a bucket list, although we published an article on the Teach Them Diligently blog this week that makes me think it really was.) :)

I stand amazed at the caliber of young people God has allowed David and me to raise—they all learned to read at an acceptable age; they do well in school; they are learning to manage their time; our oldest got accepted into college to pursue what he believes is God’s call for his life; and I could go on and on. Those are important things to us homeschool moms!

But what really stands out about these years of homeschooling has been the fact that our children love God. They all are comfortable talking about things of God, what they’re learning, and what they need to work on. They love people, and they are always looking for ways to encourage or help those God brings across their paths. Those things really exemplify what we always hoped would come from this adventure in homeschooling. For as has been noted time and time again, David and I stepped out in obedience when we really started to focus on God’s call to disciple our children, using home education as a wonderful tool to maximize the time we have to do that.

I’ve learned some pretty amazing things through my years as a homeschool mom. In fact, tomorrow’s video on Teach Them Diligently 365 will talk all about some of those lessons. But one things that God has shown me over and over is that the way that I am praying for my children really affects the way I parent and home educate them, and ultimately shows what’s truly on that homeschool bucket list I never knew I had written down.

I invite you to take a few minutes tonight to join me for a discussion about “how you pray will affect how you parent“, for I believe that you will be amazed at how the things you are truly striving for—that bucket list of sorts—really does affect how you lay out each and every day. And you will find it truly miraculous when you get deep enough into your journey to look back and see God so clearly answering those prayers you were praying every day… sometimes in ways that seemed so natural you may have even missed the miraculous nature of them at the time!

This week, I encourage you commit to pray strategically for your children and to allow those prayers to direct your homeschool as well as your home life. If you watch the video linked above, you will see a link to the prayer guide I wrote based on how I have always prayed for my children. I hope it will be a great help to you as well!

Please let me know how I can pray for you and for your family—I consider it a great privilege to do so, and I truly hope to see you in person next spring at Teach Them Diligently 2019!
