The events of Teach Them Diligently 2016 have now come to an end. More families than ever joined us onsite, and we heard from many about great things God did in their hearts, lives, and homes. We praise God that He definitely met with us at each event– empowering speakers, healing wounds, mending relationships, challenging ideas, and encouraging hearts. There is no doubt that MUCH was learned this year! Now it is time for all of us to continue in what we have learned, trusting God to keep working and to complete what He has begun in each of us and our families.
Many of my most fond memories as a teenager and young adult involved time I spent at a Christian camp I attended and eventually spent several summers serving. (My children spend time there each summer even now!) At the exit from the camp are the words from 2 Timothy 3:14, “But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;” and it is a great reminder to all to take what we learned while we were there and continue in it.
I encourage you to do the same.
As I read through 2 Timothy again this morning, it seems that the world that Paul was preparing Timothy to serve in was surprisingly similar to the one in which we currently live and endeavor to raise our children. Wickedness is seen on every side, things that should be aren’t, and many things that should not be allowed at all are actually being exalted. The stakes are high! For our families, for our children, for our marriages, for the health of our own hearts, we must take what we have learned and continue in them!
Satan will try to discourage you and may even make you doubt God is working at all.
Rehearse to yourself what you know about God and what He taught you this year, and do not allow Satan to steal your joy or your determination to follow our great God. Do not allow the enemy to attack you on a personal level, make you doubt that God spoke to you in the first place, or to make fuzzy the important lessons you learned. Get the recordings if necessary and spend time daily in the Word of God to ensure that you are well-equipped for the days ahead. God created you individually. He put together your family just as He planned. And He has a wonderful purpose that only YOU can fulfill– CONTINUE in what you have learned!
You will find that things do not change as quickly as you would like.
You spent many years building the habits and ways that you have done things in your home and homeschool. Some will be easy fixes, and you will get great satisfaction from those. Others will take more time and more work– Continue in what you have learned and faithfully seek God’s help in making the changes you know you need to make.
The world around you has gone crazy.
Just as in the days when Paul wrote 2 Timothy, the world is not friendly to God’s people. We have to accept that.
2 Timothy is a fantastic book to study, for Paul encourages Timothy in ways that are incredibly applicable to our world today. He is also very honest with his young friend about the trials and tribulations that will come his way. Using different metaphors, he encourages Timothy to seek things that are above, not entangling himself in things of this world. Those are very timely words for us.
As parents, we must give our children a rock solid foundation of why they believe what they believe, for they will be tested– probably sooner than we think. As believers, we must be ready to give an answer, and decide how far we are willing to go for the sake of His name. We must CONTINUE in what God has taught us! Many of us have learned these truths from the time we were young. Some have come to know them more recently, but remember, God has given us the Bible to teach us how to walk– we must continue to seek His face and grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
You Have The Chance To Shine.
The darker the day, the more brightly the light shines. We have talked with, prayed with, and corresponded with countless men, ladies, teens and children this year who have seen God work in mighty ways. We praise His name that He has chosen to use Teach Them Diligently as a “revival for moms” and a “revival for families,” as was stated by different attendees. We pray each day that all of us will continue in what we have learned, and that God will use us to shine His light brightly in a dark and dying world.
We are absolutely counting the days until we can see you all again and hear how God took what you learned this year and grew you even more as you walked with Him at home. If you want to get a jump start on registering for next year, click here.
For the sake of His name!
