Strengthen Your Family Through Biblical Homeschooling

Why Is There a Teach Them Diligently Convention?

Why Is there a Teach Them Diligently

Why is there a Teach Them Diligently Convention? What sets Teach Them Diligently apart from the other homeschool conventions that are available? Why would your family travel to join us?

The history of Teach Them Diligently is an amazing tale of God at work.  God had called our family to work with Worldwide Tentmakers years before as volunteers. Worldwide Tentmakers is a mission agency with a 25-year history that helps “promote, prepare and place self-supporting witnesses worldwide.”  Throughout the New Testament, we learn that Paul used his trade as a tentmaker to support many of his missionary journeys and to meet needs in the local marketplaces he entered. We firmly believe that God wants to use people with the skills and talents He has placed in their hands to spread His Good News throughout our country and the rest of the world.

In 2011, it became very clear to us that God wanted our family to make the jump from volunteer leaders of the mission to leaving the comfortable job David had and leaping into vocationally leading the mission.  I can honestly say that I wasn’t even afraid of that leap, for God made it so clear that we were to make it.

As we were praying about how God would sustain us, we noticed that home educating families, like ours, seemed to be a good audience for the message of Tentmaking—we’re entrepreneurial by nature, right?  We’re independent!!  We’re not afraid to look at things a little differently than our parents did, perhaps.

Just as David was leaving his job, the Lord widely opened the door for us to start working on an event to celebrate the reason He called us to educate our children at home–  the recognition that our time with our children is short and discipling/shepherding their hearts was our chief responsibility within our family.  We were very excited (OK… and scared to death!) about the opportunity, for we believed that if discipleship was a main driver for our family, it HAD to be for other Christian families as well. So we set out, with lots of prayer, to call speakers that we thought would encourage and equip families… and they said YES!! (How great is GOD?!)

As the plans for Teach Them Diligently came together for 2012, we really wanted the event to be a celebration—dare we even dream “a revival!” Thousands of families were blessed and encouraged at Teach Them Diligently Homeschool Conventions in 2013for families.  We wanted God to unshackle hearts that were bound in fear and dread. We prayed that family units would come together, so all members of the family could be ministered to—and God greatly answered those prayers!! Almost 1,500 families came to that first event in Spartanburg, SC—and the majority came with their entire family. It. Was. Amazing!!  We even received many emails in the days after that event calling it a “revival”—our hearts rejoiced!!

God had done exceedingly and abundantly above all that we had asked or thought.

At the same time we were working on the first Teach Them Diligently, we were also working on opening another “Kingdom company” to reach families in Poland with the good news of Jesus Christ.  The Lord allowed us to get the doors open there in October 2012, and we now have about 35 little boys and girls that our team is ministering to every day—and their moms and dads frequently stop in to ask parenting questions, “life” questions, and more. God is opening doors!  Again, we are thankful!

In 2013, we expanded and with expansion comes friction. Working on Teach Them Diligently 2013 was not as pleasant for us. It was a hard, rocky road with many hurts along the way—but the same God was at work.  He not only filled up our Spartanburg event, but He also brought in thousands of families to Nashville and Omaha. It was exciting—almost overwhelming—to watch all those families laughing together, weeping together, and allowing God to work in their lives together.

As we now enter the 2017 season, we are excited to see what God will do. We are laying every element of the conventions before His throne—praying over every speaker, every program, every offering.  We are praying that God will bring in even more families and that He will work even more mightily in lives than He has before.  It is apparent that our time is short to do His work!

The Lord continues to do great and mighty things, and we are excited to share them with you in the days ahead! This spring we look forward to Teach Them Diligently Conventions in Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, and Ohio.

We pray that you will plan to join us!  We pray that you will bring lots of friends!  We pray that these events will spark a revival in the families of Teach Them Diligently Promotional VideoAmerica that will turn our country upside down!
Will you join us? Our family would LOVE to see yours there!

For the sake of His name!
