The Teach Them Diligently Convention wants YOU to join in “The Battle for Truth.” All junior soldiers between the ages of 4 and 11 can enlist in the fight against the Christian’s three major enemies — the world, the flesh, and their commanding officer, the Devil. Uniformed in the Armor of God, we’ll study the Bible in age-specific squadrons and complete tactical exercises, all designed to help you be all that you can be in the army of the Lord. This year, the children’s program will be produced and directed by Teach Them Diligently from start to finish. We are very excited about this program, and we hope that you will be also!
Four-12 Teen Track
Teens who are looking to strengthen their faith will want to take part in the Four-12 Teen Track. An intensive Apologetics program, Four-12 is sponsored by Apologia Academy, and speakers will include Larry Blythe and Charity Decker, both of the Apologia team. Learn how to answer unbelieving friends who question your convictions. Discover ways to be bolder in sharing the Gospel, and get helpful hints as to how to remain pure in a world that is anything but pure.
Larry Blythe’s ministry has taken him from sea to shining sea. Having grown up – and earned his degree at Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College – Larry is currently based in Charlotte, NC, and serves as the director of Apologia Academy. Larry earned his M.A.A. (Master of Arts in Apologetics) from Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte, NC in 2002, and he has been a regular guest speaker at the National Christian Apologetics Conference, and the Spiritual Counterfeits Conference. He was an instructor of World Religions and New Religious Movements, and Church History at Southern Evangelical Bible College. He was the Founder/Director of the Lay Institute for Biblical Studies and taught on various topics including cults, apologetics, theology, OT/NT, and social disciplines. He is one of the editors of the Baker Encyclopedia of Christian Apologetics. Blythe teaches seminars on a variety of topics at various venues. In addition to teaching subjects related to World Religions, Cults, and general apologetics (defending the historical Christian faith), Larry’s seminar topics include I Don’t Have Enough Faith to be An Atheist, Are the New Testament Accounts True, Do All Religions Lead to God, How To Answer a Skeptic, 10 Things Teens Can Do To Change The World, How to Refute Non-Christian Claims, and many more. For approximately 2 ½ years Larry was a regular guest on the weekly radio program The Voice of Truth. He has also been a guest on the local public access television show Giving An Answer speaking on various topics including Scientology, The DaVinci Code, and Jehovah’s Witnesses. He has been a guest on radio programs both live and pre-recorded. Larry occasionally teaches classes in apologetics and World Religions in the prison ministry at Kershaw Correctional Institution, Kershaw, SC. Larry will be leading the Four-12 Track in all 3 locations next May.
Charity Decker is a home school graduate who is passionate about training young women to be good guards—of their hearts, to be exact! Charity received her degree in Counseling and Psychology from Toccoa Falls College, in North Georgia. She went on to acquire a Masters in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In November of 2011, she married the love of her life and moved to Fort Bragg to take on the role of an Army wife. Charity enjoys taking care of her little home, teaching exercise classes, and working as the Logistics Manager for Apologia Educational Ministries. Both she and Jared (also a home school graduate) look forward to homeschooling their own children one day. Charity will be joining us at all 3 Teach Them Diligently Conventions next year.
Four-12 Servant Leadership Track
Does your teen feel called to serve?
Then your teen is a perfect fit for the Servant Leadership Certification Program! Offered at each Convention location, this Program starts on Thursday and includes a day of intensive training in leading others, followed by two days of serving them. In so doing, attendees follow the example of Jesus, Who washed His disciples’ feet, saying, “… the servant is not greater than lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. If you know these things, happy are ye if ye do them” (John 13:16). This exciting program is limited to 50 teens (ages 13-18) at each site, all of whom will get a chance to do “these things” throughout the Convention weekend. After a full day of training, the teens will earn a Certificate of Completion and work in the Battle For Truth children’s program. They’ll also benefit from several specially-scheduled, Thursday Apologetics sessions led by speakers in the 4:12 Teen Track. A registration in the Servant Leadership track requires a commitment to attending the entire Convention – from early Thursday through Saturday evening.
What can you expect tomorrow?
There are still so many great speakers to announce that tomorrow’s post is jam-packed with information. You’ll want to grab your cup of coffee and have a nice time set aside to read through the list. You’ll meet some new ladies and gentlemen that are sure to be a blessing to your family and become reacquainted with others who you might have already had the privilege of hearing.
* Remember that this post is being hosted on our 2012 site. Our new site is almost finished, but if you look around please remember that this is talking specifically about last year’s convention.
