Finding the right Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus curriculum is essential for nurturing strong math skills in your high school-aged children. With a plethora of options available, it can be overwhelming to determine which program will best suit your family’s needs and learning styles. In this blog post, we’ll explore some of the best high school homeschool Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus curriculums for 2024, highlighting their unique features, teaching methods, and how they can effectively engage your child in the learning process.

The Math-U-See system features step-by-step procedures for introducing, reviewing, practicing, and mastering concepts with each lesson. Teachers watch the video lesson to learn the new concept and how to demonstrate it; they then present the new concept to the student; finally, students practice the new concept using lesson practice problems from the student workbook. Student-paced, teachers are given clear guidelines for determining when students have achieved mastery and are ready to move to the next lesson or level.

Teaching Textbooks is a complete math curriculum offered as a series of apps (one for each grade level). Each course does all of the teaching, all of the grading, and has step-by-step solutions for every problem. These features allow students to work independently and take the weight of teaching math off the parents!

Calculus, Expanded Edition is the first book in the Life of Fred University Mathematics Series, and covers two years’ worth of college-level calculus.

Twenty-four chapters are included; each ends with six problem sets (20-30 minutes each) that are named after individual cities. Worked solutions for all cities problems are provided to students in this expanded edition. Interspersed throughout are instructions to complete the “Your Turn to Play” problems that are grouped together at the back of the book. These are randomly assigned numbers to prevent accidentally seeing an answer while checking answers (e.g. numbered as 45, 888, 500, 317, 923, 71, etc.); all answers are provided. The “Further Ado” appendix provides even more practice opportunities with extra-hard questions for motivated students.

Life of Fred Calculus covers: Functions, Limits, Speed, Slope, Derivatives, Concavity, Trig, Related Rates, Curvature, Integrals, Area, Work, Centroids, Logs, Conics, Infinite Series, Solids of Revolution, Polar Coordinates, Hyperbolic Trig, Vectors, Partial Derivatives, Double Integrals, Vector Calculus, Differential Equations.

Understanding the abstractions of calculus requires far more than limited exposure. Through the 148 sequential lessons in this comprehensive text, future mathematicians, scientists, and engineers will incrementally build and reinforce their knowledge through continual practice and review. Following a condensed summary of key algebra, trigonometry, and analytic geometry topics, students explore limits, functions, and the differentiation and integration of variables.

Shormann Calculus covers all content found on both the CLEP Calculus Exam, and the AP Calculus AB Exam. Divided into 4 quarters of 20 lessons each, the first quarter provides a solid precalculus review, introduces fundamental calculus topics like limits, derivatives and integrals, and reviews many topics found on the ACT and SAT. The remainder of the course dives deep into calculus. As in all Shormann Math courses, our main goal is for students to strengthen their faith in Jesus and His word, developing a Christ-like humility and joy in their learning, using their education as a way to serve.

Selecting the right Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus curriculum is a vital step in fostering your child’s math development. With the diverse options available, there is something to suit every family’s unique needs and learning preferences.
